Marie Hofstätter, an Austrian star

Maria Hofstäetter will be Austria’s Shooting Star at the next Berlinale (6–16 February) when she and 18 other young European acting talents will be presented to the film industry, the media and the public by event organisers, European Film Promotion .
Hofstäetter came to the forefront of international attention after starring in Ulrich Seidl’s Hundstage (Dog Days), and won the best actress award at the 2001 edition of the Gijon International Film Festival in Spain. She also appeared in Harald Sicheritz’s commercial hit, Poppitz, Michael Haneke’s Wolfzeit, Ulrike Schweiger’s Twinni and Michael Sturminger’s Hurensohn. Hofstäetter is well known at home for her stage work and she recently won an international theatre award for her work in Werner Schwab’s “Die Präsidentinnen".
