The future looks rosy for Sönke Wortmann's Franco-German co-production entitled The Miracle of Bern. Wortmann first came to public attention in 1994 with Everyone wants it. Distributed in Germany by Senator and very successfully screened out of competition in the Piazza Grande section in Locarno, the title has whetted the appetites of numerous distributors. Bavaria Film International who are handling sales said they were holding talks with representatives from Benelux, Scandinavia and Hungary. "Although nothing’s been finalised, negotiations are going well and the forecast is promising," said Bavaria’s head of sales, Stefanie Zeitler.
In a couple of days time we should find out which territories have picked up this story that is based on the cult cartoon characters created by Ralf König.
