A didactic documentary

by

Gil Rossellini, son of the late great and undisputed Maestro of post-war Italian cinema, Roberto is in Locarno to present a documentary entitled The Hold in the Wall. Co-directed by Rory O'Connor, the film was presented on 15 August as part of the special day dedicated that the Swiss festival dedicated to the all-important issue of human rights.
The Hole in the Wall, about a group of Indian children aged between 6 and 12 who are presented with a computer for the first time in their lives was aired on Italy's "La 7" network in February of this year and is scheduled to be broadcast by RaiSat. Amazingly all it took was thirty minutes and the kids were surfing the web as if to the manner born.
"A study commissioned by the UN showed that we need incredibly huge amounts of money if we have any hope of resolving the worldwide education problem," said Rossellini. "By means of this experiment of ours, we suggest another solution. Technology is how we can solve our educational problems at reasonably low costs." Produced for over €220,000 by the two directors' respectively slates (Global Vision and Rossellini & Associati), the documentary was first screened for the UN and won an important award at the recent Festival of Houston. Rossellini and O'Connor are looking for a European distributor.
