Snowboarders team bets on Experts

by

Love can lead to serious trouble – and comical situations. This is the logline of the latest Czech production, Experti (“Experts”), which starts with principal photography August 1.
Production houses Whisconti and Ceska Produkce, who made a splash last year with the box-office teenage hit Snowboardaci (“Snowboarders”), return with a comedy of more or less the same character and based on the same recipe, but without the “expertise” of Snowboarders’s director Karel Janak with whom they have parted company.

Experts is instead directed by debutant Karel Coma and come with a completely different cast. “This is a summer comedy about a computer expert, Oskar, who becomes a successful entrepreneur overnight in order to win the girl of his heart; it’s a film about how dangerous the fulfilling of our dreams can prove to be…” reads the synopsis of the film. The producers though argue that this film should have a wider age-group appeal than Snowboarders had.
Oskar is played by Krystof Hádek, who starred next to Ondrej Vetchy in Jan Sverak’s WWII drama Dark Blue World (“Tmavomodry svet”, 2001), while little known actresses Michaela Mauerova and Eva Ujfalusi were given the two main females roles.

According to the project’s head of production Tomas Sobola, filming is expected to last until September 10 while post-production should be completed by Christmas. The film, which is produced together with Czech TV, is planned to be released in Czech and Slovak theatres on February 9, 2006.
