Huntgeburth's white Masai conquers the public
The charts for this week-end seem to confirm one of the hypotheses put forward a month ago to explain the unconvincing admission figures published by the FFA for the first semester of 2005 (see News 8/29): the German public is willing to go to the cinema if the films are good.
As a matter of fact, one of the five German movies released last Thursday, Die weiße Massai (The white Masai) by Hermine Huntgeburth, convinced 265,000 spectators out of 1.2 million in only three days. And so, the African romance produced and distributed by Constantin Film reaches the top of the charts, ahead of two big blockbusters — Bewitched, starring Nicole Kidman (140,000 tickets), and Transporter - The Mission (100,000).
