DocsBarcelona is the most important meeting point in Southern Europe for professionals working within the documentary industry. The event that includes a pitching session, documentary screenings and a number of networking activities will take place from November 2 - 4 in Terrassa, Barcelona. Prior to the pitching session a pitching workshop will take place on November 1st and 2nd.
The event organised by European Documentary Network has already confirmed the presence of some of the most important Commissioning editors in Europe such as Hans Robert Eisenhauer, ZDF/Arte in Germany, Paul Pauwels, VRT in Belgium and Alain Armani, France 3.

Another Pitching session will be organised in the framework of the 12th Sheffield International Documentary Festival (October 10-16). The Channel 4 Sheffield Pitch is open to anyone, who has not made a documentary for primetime TV before. It's not necessary to have backing from an executive producer or production company, just a good idea for a documentary with a broad appeal and the potential to play in a primetime TV slot. The winning pitch will take away a £30,000 (€ 44,000) commission and the mentorship of a Channel 4 commissioning editor. The guidelines of the selection are available on Sheffield Festival's website. Deadline for submissions is September 26th.
