Swiss short films on the verge of the Oscars
Considered to be a trampoline toward Oscar nominations, the Palm Springs International Festival of Short Films retained three Swiss short films in competition for its 11th edition, which takes place between the 20th and 26th September in the Californian desert. Categorized thematically, all the les films selected are screened in a very complete programme. Hoi Maya by Claudia Lorenz, winner of the UIP Prize and of the Public Prize at the Berlin Festival, competes under the banner "Girls on Girls". Herr Goldstein by Micha Lewinsky, which deals very tactfully with the powerful after-affects of love, finds itself in the section "Memory Lane" and La nuit et tous les autres jours by Eric Grant in "Lost in Lust". Considered as a major window for short films towards North America, the ShortFest opens up possibilities for its winners at the Oscars. Last year, no less than six of them were nominated!
