After a long season in China, the set of Gianni Amelio's new film, La stella che non c'era ('The star that wasn't') has moved back to Italy, near the Cornigliano steelworks (Genoa Province). The film, adapted from La dismissione, a novel by Ermanno Rea, focuses on Vincenzo (Sergio Castellitto), a metallurgic worker who does not accept the fact that his factory has shut down and follows the machines up to Shanghai where they have been sold. Amelio chose Genoa to recreate the industrial area of Bagnoli and will spend ten days filming in Liguria.

This co-production involving Pacific Pictures and Cattleya started shooting in China at the end of June, between Beijin and Shanghai. La stella che non c'era will be distributed in Italy by 01 Distribution.
