Local industry celebrate The 3 Rooms…

During a gala evening held last Friday during the Helsinki International Film Festival- Love & Anarchy (September 15-25) and dedicated to Finnish cinema, Pirjo Honkasalo and Kristiina Pervilä, director and producer of The 3 Rooms of Melancholia, have been voted by their peers Director of the Year and Producer of the Year.
The Association of Finnish Film Directors said in a statement: "As a director, Pirjo Honkasalo is courageous and uncompromising. It is remarkable that The 3 Rooms of Melancholia, currently the most acclaimed Finnish film internationally, is not a product of marketing mechanisms but an auteuritic work that takes position and reminds us that it is possible to change the world through art."

The special Finnish gala evening also included the Finnish premiere of Klaus Härö’s Mother Of Mine, ahead of its theatrical release on September 30 through Columbia/Nordisk Film Distribution.

The 18th Helsinki International Film Festival- Love & Anarchy is a non competitive event offering a wide selection of Finnish premieres. The programme this year includes European Nights with 14 films from young aspiring European filmmakers. Among this year’s special guests are Swedish filmmaker Josef Fares (Zozo [+see also:
