Who will succeed Fame chimica by Paolo Vari and Antonio Bocola as winners of the Annecy Festival of Italian Film when the 23rd edition kicks off tomorrow and run till the 4th October? Like every year, the best of Italian production sets up in the Savoy city, principally for a competition involving 9 features, among them Il resto di niente by Antonietta De Lillo, Sotto e sopra il ponte by Alberto Bassetti, Alla luce del sole by Roberto Faenza, Nessun messagio in segreteria by Paolo Genovese and Luca Miniero, Saimir [+see also:
film profile] de Francesco Munzi, Un silencio particolare by Stefano Rulli, Fratelli d’Italia by Roberto Quagliano, La passione di Giosué l’ebreo by Pasquale Scimeca and E se domani... by Giovanni La Parola. Note the presence on the jury of filmmaker Giuseppe Piccioni.
But the event run by Pierre Todeschini and Jean Gili offers, above all, a chance for French spectators, cinephiles and journalists, to get a 360° view of the creativity of contemporary Italian film thanks to a Panorama of 30 features. film profile]), Andrea and Antonio Frazzi (Certi bambini), Daniele Vicari (L’orizzonte degli eventi), also Stefano Pasetto (Tartarughe sul dorso). Note too a section called Mafia Blues, including two documentaries by Sicilian Marco Amenta (Diario di una siciliana ribelle and L’ultimo padrino), as well as a programme of shorts animation films courts.
This year, the Master Class has chosen a producer as leader of the orchestra, in the shape of Riccardo Tozzi (read interview), founder and artistic director of the company Cattleya who will run a debate on the theme Produce, co-produce in Europe. Elsewhere, a dozen current and past productions by Cattleya will be screened, films made by Cristina Comencini, Marco Tullio Giordana, Michele Placido, Luca Lucini, Enzo Monteleone, Paolo Virzì, Gabriele Salvatores, Sergio Castellito, Franco Zeffirelli and Radu Mihaileanu (Vas, vis et deviens [+see also:
