RELEASES Italy

Jean Reno and the Grey Wolves

by

The murder of several young Turkish women, illegal immigrants, involves a police captain from the X arrondissement in Paris, his ambiguous former co-worker and a woman plagued by hallucinations. This is the plot of The Empire of the Wolves by French filmmaker Chris Nahon, which Medusa Film is releasing next Friday on 250 screens across Italy.
Based on the novel by Jean-Cristophe Grangè and starring Jean Reno and Laura Morante, the film, produced by Gaumont and Le Films du Dauphin, "aims to be spectacular and reach all audiences," explained the director at the film’s presentation in Rome (it was released in France on April 20th of this year).

"I wanted to confound and enhance the mystery by using different genres, from horror to thriller to the police crime drama. The entire film is about soul-searching, for the spectator as well as for the characters," says Nahon. He added that while shooting in Turkey he received threats from the Grey Wolves, an ultra-nationalist group who wanted to impose changes to the screenplay.
Jean Reno, however, delivered a revelation that might disappoint his fans: "I no longer want to play policemen chasing after murderers."
