by

Opowieści galicyjskie (Stories of Galicia), Dariusz Jabłoński's next film will trace the steps of a European born in the 70's. In this feature Jabłoński, Krzysztof Kieślowski's old assistant in Decalogue, retraces the story of a thirty-some year old man (Jiri Machacek), who wanting to find peace, leaves the city behind and heads for the mountains. The film is an adaptation of Andrzej Stasiuk's eponymous book who also wrote the script.
"Films usually tell stories about characters that are looking for a specific something. I show a character who wants nothing, except absolute peace. He is at a turning point of his life, he wants change. It is in this simple world where he finds the right balance, faith in life, and faith in God", said Jabłoński.
