24 projects get financing at Cartoon Forum

During the 16th Cartoon Forum –part of the EU Media Programme – that took place in Kolding, Denmark from September 21-24, 67 projects from 16 different European countries were presented to the 250 buyers representing TV channels, financiers and publishers.
Among those animation projects, 24 managed to close their financing for a total amount of €100m, including six projects from smaller European countries: one Icelandic, three Irish, one Danish and one Belgian. The other 18 projects were from France, Germany, Spain, Italy and the UK.

At the closing night of the event attended by 730 European industry people specialised in animation, the British short film Jojo In The Stars directed by Marc Craste and produced by Studio AKA Ltd, won the prestigious Cartoon d’or, adding to an already long list of international awards including Best animated short film at the BAFTAs 2004 and Best animated film in Clermont Ferrand in 2004.

The next Cartoon Forum will take place in Pau, France, from September 20-24, 2006.
