From horror to Middle of Nowhere

Nira Park who produced the successful horror film Shawn Of The Dead for Working Title Films is now producing her second feature film for them. Middle of Nowhere currently shooting in Australia, is the directorial debut of UK award winning commercials and music video director Ringan Ledwidge. The film based on an original screenplay by Jans Watkins (My Little Eye) and Australian playwright Andrew Upton, is a contemporary psychological thriller in which a young British couple travelling through the Australian outback become involved with a mysterious and charismatic American whose motives for imposing his friendship upon them becomes increasingly suspect and sinister.
In the lead roles are Liverpool-born actor Shaun Evans (Being Julia) and actress Amelia Warner (Mansfield Park), and US actor Scott Mechlowicz (Neverland).
The film is co-produced by Nira Park’s WBP in the UK and Deborah Balderstone in Australia for Working Title Films and Universal Pictures, in association with the Film Finance Corporation Australia and Studio Canal +.

Meanwhile Working Title is enjoying the success of Pride And Prejudice in the UK which has grossed over £6.4m (€ 9.4m) in two weeks, and is preparing the launch of the children’s film Nanny McPhee based on a screenplay by Emma Thompson who also stars in the film alongside Colin Firth and Angela Lansbury. The film will have its world premiere in London next Sunday October 9 and will be released in the UK by UIP on October 21.
