Nordisk benefits from Oscars nominations

The sales arm of Scandinavian giant Nordisk Group is enjoying strong interest from international distributors on its two titles Adam’s Apples [+see also:

and Mother of Mine representing respectively Denmark and Finland at the Oscars nominations 2006.

Anders Thomas Jensen’s black comedy and biggest Danish hit 2005 has been sold to Italy (Teodora Film) and offers are pending from France, while Klaus Härö’s period drama, which opened strongly last weekend in Finland through Nordisk, has been bought by Mexico and Central America and has concrete offers from France. "The Oscars nominations have certainly helped us a lot," admits Nordisk’s sales executive Susanne Wendt, plus Adam’s Apples has just won the Audience Award at the recent Filmfest Hamburg."

Other recent sales concluded after Venice and Toronto include Tómas Gislason’s documentary film about the Tour de France Overcoming sold to Soda Pictures in the UK and Canada, with Germany and France expected to close within the next couple of weeks.
Pål Sletaune’s thriller Next Door which was selected at Venice Days has been sold to Greece (Rosebud), Cyprus, Mexico and Central America and had already been bought by Poland (Tantra Dmpc), Turkey, Malaysia and Singapore.
