Focus on Spain at Toulouse

The 10th Toulouse Spanish film festival (Cinespaña) opened today with the screening of Habana Blues [+see also:

film profile] by Benito Zambrano, a film presented as the closing film of the section Un Certain Regard in May at Cannes (read the article). Running till 16th October, the Toulouse event, which makes a bridge between French and Spanish cinema, proposes a large tour of new talent. On the menu, fifty features, documentaries and experimental films, a busy shorts programme, a tribute to the director Mario Camus (winner notably of the Golden bear Berlin in 1983), a retrospective of the Public Prizes awarded in previous years, a selection of Basque film production, a running theme of Don Quixote and a closing concert by the actress Victoria Abril.

In the running for the Golden Violette, 9 features will attempt to seduce a jury headed by the French filmmaker Manuel Poirier: 15 dìas contigo by Jesús Ponce, Inconscientes [+see also:
