German version of FC Venus now shooting

by

German production company Wüste Filmproduktion has started shooting the ‘instant’ German remake of the Finnish film FC Venus, now in post-production.
The decision of shooting almost simultaneously a Finnish and German film, both based on the same original script by Finnish writers Outi Keskevaari and Katri Manninen- was announced by the two production companies Talent House in Finland and Wüste Filmproduktion (who produced Head On) at the last Berlin Film Festival. Since then, the Finnish FC Venus by first time director Joona Tena (award-winning director for TV dramas and shorts) has been shot and is currently in post-production, preparing for its January 6, 2006 release in Finland through Nordisk/Columbia Tri Star. The film stars Minna Haapkylä (Producing Adults) Petteri Summanen (Harbour Brothers) and Laura Malmivaara (Frozen Land).
It’s the story of a group of women who are fed up with the way their husbands and boyfriends play, watch, think and breathe football. So they decide to create their own team to challenge their men to the match of their lives.

For the German version directed by Ute Wieland, the script has been modified by Jan Berger for the local market and in the cast are Nora Tschirner, Christian Ulmen and Heinz Hoenig. The film is also co-produced by Egoli Tossell Film Berlin, 7 Pictures and German Film Production. Shooting continues until the beginning of November and the film will be released in Germany in April 2006.
