Entertainment Takes to the Streets

by

The Italian entertainment industry is mobilizing today for the first time in a unified manner by blocking all activity in the country and holding a national protest in Rome against the heavy cuts to the industry set forth by the 2006 Finance Law, which would reduce public funding in the field by 40%, putting 5,000 companies and 60,000 jobs at risk.

The protest began at the Capranica Conference Center, in Piazza Capranica, at 2:30 p.m. The demonstration is being promoted by AGIC, ANICA, ANAC, Doc.it, CGIL, CISL and the UIL Entertainment Division, the actors union, including the APT, the film journalists’ union, AFIC, CEMAT and many other associations and show business personalities.

Mario Monicelli, Ettore Scola, Francesco Maselli, Cristina Comencini, Paolo and Vittorio Taviani and Stefania Sandrelli are among the many who confirmed their participation in the demonstration .
