FUNDING Germany

€1.5 for the Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg

by

Berlin has just allocated an extra €1.5M to the Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg. While other regional funds are currently threatened by cutbacks, the Medienboard is reasonably healthy, with 17.9M dedicated this year to film promotion.

As Kirsten Niehuus, who manages this great institution, explained, “We can always use more money.” Indeed, there are many productions needing support in the German capital and “many more promising projects to be considered before the end of the year.”
Niehuus also expressed her gratitude for the strong commitment of the City of Berlin. The Lord Mayor Klaus Wowereit,, present in Paris for the opening of the German Film Festival at the Arlequin, insisted personally on the support German for cinema, the key-role of all big capital, adding, with a smile, that his participation to this cause was not limited to his small part in Go for Zucker! - Alles auf Zucker!.
