Nikifor’s world career
After the success of Mój Nikifor by Krzysztof Krauze in Karlovy Vary (Grand Prize and Cristal Globes for directing by Krzysztof Krauze, and for the lead role interpretation by Krystyna Feldman - see news, October 11th and July 21st), the big festival organizers around the world weree in a hurry to play the film in all of their events. .
Nikifor’s story – a great naive Polish painter – was presented to competition namely in Valladolid, Athens and Chicago. These last two festivals allowed the film to achieve new successes. Last weekend, in Chicago, Krzysztof Krauze took home the Gold Hugo for best film, while Roman Gancarczyk took the Silver Hugo for best actor, playing Nikifor Marian Włosiński’s best friend.
In Athens, where Krauze’s film was part of the Europe’s Cinema Panorama, it won the FIPRESCI jury’s prize for best film.
Also, Krystyna Feldman won the Grand Prize in the Kiev Actors Festival, on October 1st 2005.
