Tara Road local hit

Gillies MacKinnon’s Tara Road based on the international best-selling novel by Maeve Binchy, has been successfully released in Ireland through BVI, taking €203,000 in just seven days from 44 prints.

The story of an American and an Irish woman, who decide to swap houses for one summer and gradually become best friends, was adapted by Cynthia Cidre and Shane Connaughton for the big screen. The film starring Andie MacDowell, Olivia Williams (Peter Pan), Stephen Rea, Brenda Fricker, Ian Glenn and Jean-Marc Barr was produced by Irish producer Noel Pearson (My Left Foot) and UK counterpart Sarah Radclyffe (Ratcatcher) with UK based Celsius Entertainment handling international sales.
Among European territories set to release the film in the upcoming months are SF in Sweden and Filmcompagniet in Denmark.
