Swiss actor Bruno Ganz is currently filming Youth without Youth, the new film from Francis Ford Coppola adapted from a novella by Rumanian writer Mircea Eliade. He shares the screen with English actor Tim Roth, who plays a professor forced to flee Rumania at the outbreak of the second world war, and become an exile in Switzerland, then in Malta and finally in India. Bruno Ganz, born in Zurich in 1941, made his name in the theatre world at the famous Schaubühne in Berlin then imposed himself on the cinema world in the New German Cinema of the 1970s. He has acted for Volker Schlöndorf (Le faussaire), Wim Wenders (L’ami américain, Les ailes du désir), Alain Tanner (Dans la ville blanche), Theo Angelopoulos L’éternité et un jour) and also Silvio Soldini (Pane e tulipani).
