Poland at the Prix Europa

TVP, Poland’s public television, is the first television in Central and Eastern Europe to be invited to the Prix Europa alliance. On this occasion, a special day was organized by Poland.

TVP , who plays a key role in the cinematic production investment in Poland, has also presented around 20 films in this event. The audience in the “fiction” section of the competition was able to see the films made by the televised cycle Święta polskie (Polish Festivities ): Piekło, niebo’s international premier (Hell, Heaven) by , and Królowa chmur (Queen of the Clouds) by Radosław Piwowarski. In the documentary section, TVP presented Herkules by Lidia Duda (Grand Prize in the Krawkow Documentary Festival 2005), Jakoś to będzie by Marcin Koszałka and Dziennik.pl (Journal.pl) by Maria Zmarz-Koczanowicz – a film co-produced by TVP and Arte.

Since its beginning in the early 90’s, Polish television presents its best films and documentaries as candidates to Prix Europa. Among the previous awardees are Polish directors such as Kazimierze Kutz (1994), Izabela Cywińska (2000) and Iwona Siekierzyńska (2003).
