Rome: Film capital

More films are produced and watched in Rome than in any other Italian city. These are just of the results from the “Report on the Economy of Rome,” whose salient data has been published in daily paper La Repubblica.

84% of companies that have produced or co-produced at least one film have their headquarters in Rome. The capital is also the most preferred location: 15,500 shooting days were registered in Rome. Even Roman audiences are particularly inclined towards this type of entertainment. In 2003, 11.5m tickets were sold in Rome, of the national total of 105m; each “Roman” went to the cinema on average 4.5 times, compared to the national average of 1.8.
