A Polish Western

Piotr Uklański, well known in other artistic fields, debuts in the film realm by just finishing part of his new work Summer Love, filmed in the dolomites in the South of Poland. At this time and up until November 16th, his team will be shooting in Warsaw.

Piotr Uklański, a Polish artist who works and lives in the US, made himself known through the portrait of Jean Paul II , done with the silhouettes of Brazilian soldiers, as well as his controversial exposition “Nasis”, where he presented photos of famous actors dressed up in Nazi uniforms. This time around, Uklański has jumped into a cinematic project, which was written by him and in which he used American and Polish movie Stars. The main male part is played by Bogusław Linda (who has acted in films by Wajda, Kieślowski and Holland), while the main female part is played by Katarzyna Figura (she has in been in films by Stuhr, Machulski, Koterski, and in Prêt-à-porter by Altman). The American star Val Kilmer is also among the cast, playing a wanted man.

Summer Love’s story takes place in a small riverside village, namely inhabited by gold miners. The peace is interrupted by the arrival of a stranger who brings the body of a fugitive.

It was filmed in English with Jacek Petrycki behind the camera (Julie Walking Home by Agnieszka Holland). It is produced by Maciej Skalski of MS Films in Poland. The premiere is planned for autumn 2006.
