Advance on Receipts for Wald and Richard-Serrano
The top feature projects were selected last week by the Advance on Receipts commission of the National Film Centre National (CNC) presided over by Claude Durand. The main committee, lead by Michel Saint-Jean and assisted notably by colleague Grégoire Sorlat, filmmaker Laurent Bouhnik and actor Gilbert Melki, chose Voleurs de chevaux by Micha Wald (produced by Rezo Films). At 31 years old, the director won the Le petit rail d’or at Cannes in 2004 for his short film Alice et moi (Alice and me) will film in the first semester of 2006 a story of fraternal love, vengeance and betrayal set in Eastern Europe in the 20th century. To escape poverty, two brothers join the Cossacks, but one of them is killed and his horse stolen by another duo of brothers who live in the forest, committing crimes.
Another screenplay selected is Dans les cordes (In the ropes) by Magaly Richard-Serrano (Sunday Morning Productions), a drama about female French boxing, starring, among others, Richard Anconina shooting in the first quarter of 2006. And the commission voted a promise of Advance on Receipts to the collective animation project Peur(s) du noir (Fear of the dark), a film of sketches about fear by stars of the industry (Marie Caillou and Romain Slocombe, Blutch, Charles Burns, Pierre Di Sciullo, Philippe Dupuy and Charles Berberian, Lorenzo Mattotti, Jerry Kramski, Richard McGuire and Michel Pirus), produced by Prima Linea who also amde Loulou et autres Loups (Loulou and the Wolves) and the feature U by Grégoire Solotareff and Serge Elissalde (in production).
Elsewhere, the director general of the CNC, Veronique Cayla approved sums awarded to Ce que je sais de Lola (What I know about Lola) (Lo que sé de Lola ) by Spaniard Javier Rebollo with rising star Lola Dueñas (Volver [+see also:
