SFI supports new Colin Nutley film

The director of the 2000 Academy Award nominated film Under the Sun Colin Nutley is directing again the Swedish star actress and life partner Helena Bergström in the new drama Heartbreak Hotel [+see also:

which just received SEK 5m support from the Swedish Film Institute’s last round of awards.

The film which started shooting last August, follows two very different women (Helena Bergström and Maria Lundqvist) in their 40s with grown-up children, ready to go on with their lives and find love again. Based on Nutley’s original script, the film is produced by Maritha Norstedt for Nutley’s production company Sweetwater Filmrights. The cast also includes Claes Månsson, Johan Rabaeus and Marie Robertson. Nutley’s previous film The Queen of Sheba’s Pearls selected in competition at Karlovy Vary 2005, was an attempt to break into the English language production, but Nutley returns to the Swedish language with this new film. International and domestic distribution is handled as usual by Svensk Filmindustri.

All The Time In The World (t.o. All tid i Världen) directed by Jon Lindström also received SEK5m support from the SFI. Produced by Börje Hansson for Filmlance International, the film tells the story of a man (Peter Haber) whose life reaches rock bottom and who gets one last chance to find redemption and reconciliate with the people around him. The film led by award-winning Dop Jens Fischer also stars Amanda Renberg (Hip Hip Hurray). Domestic release through Sonet Film is scheduled for February 17, 2006.

The Swedish/German/Norwegian coproduction Mastermind starring Krister Henriksson as private eye Kurt Wallander, received SEK2m from the SFI. Directed by the Danish Peter Flinth, the film is the second instalment of a three film series based on Henning Mankell’s successful novels. The film is produced by Ole Sondberg and Lars Björkman for Yellow Bird Productions, in co-production with TV4, ARD/Degeto Film GmbH and Swedish regional film fund Film i Skåne, in collaboration with Canal +, DR, TV2 Norge, MTV3, AB Svensk Filmindustri AB (responsible for domestic and international distribution) and Tobis Film GmbH. the Sweden premiere is set for December 16, 2005.
