VAF loses its head

Historian, journalist, and documentary maker, Lucas Van Der Taelen, head of the Flemish Audiovisual Fund since its creation in September 2002, has been removed from his post following numerous disagreements with the administrators of the organization. For the moment, no replacement has decided upon.
In a press statement, the institution said the decision had been taken as part of a process of renewal. The Flemish group hopes to modify its system for subsidies to audiovisual productions, "with a more transparent manner" with regard to the decision-making process and to find a way of setting up more consultations with the Minister and audiovisual sector.
