Call for proposals on audiovisual platforms

The DG INFSO published on October 19th a call to propositions (call TSI 41) within its IST research programme on audiovisual systems on networks and individually set. Provided with €52.5 million, it encapsulates the projects, gathering at least 3 independent juridical entities from 3 different countries.

The work programme covers two points of interest:
1. Innovation on the handling of audiovisual and multimedia data, throughout an entire process, from the content’s producer to the end product consumer, covering several of the following aspects : customisation, web-surfing through the content, managing copyright protection and piracy, advanced encoding, data clustering and modification capabilities, adaptable/scalable format, format and application code conversion, data access and restitution on week powered and affordable terminals…
2. Opened and variable scale audiovisual networks and home architectures, ranging from heterogeneous IP networks that include broadcasting and multi-broadcasting, as well as access communication networks supporting users and electronic mobile apparatus, architectures allowing to rout/stock/file in buffers, to distribute and recover audiovisual content (including digital cinema and HD television) and render highly interactive multimedia services.

The due date for the submission of propositions is Dec 20th 2005.
