Nine premieres and a festival
Until 12/4, the FILMZ festival, which starts today at the Capitol-Kino of Mainz, will feature an entirely exclusive main section consisting of nine German films, all of them premieres. Amongst them, there is Gisela, a feature already screened in Locarno and Montreal in which Isabelle Stever depicts a love triangle, and Adil geht, by Esther Gronenborn (guest of the festival), the tender yet subtle and accurate chronicles of the daily (sentimental or social) issues of a group of teenagers, natives and immigrants, who share a passion for hip-hop dance. The opening movie is Eine andere Liga, a football film which will be introduced by its director, Buket Akalus, and its script-writer, Jan Berger.
This specificity of this small festival is indeed the fact that it allows the public to meet the (generally up-and-coming) authors and actors of the selected films. Besides the above-mentioned, the guests also include R.P. Kahl and his actress Inga Birkenfeld (come to discuss Mädchen am Sonntag, the co-directors Jan Martin Scharf and Arne Nolting and their producer Jan Kist (Wahrheit oder Pflicht), and Michael Busch (the director of 7 Himmel).
FILMZ also presents a selection of short films, a theme-section, and several panels.
