Three in the go for Hella Joof

by

2006 will be a very busy year for popular Danish director Hella Joof who has three new projects in production and development. Two of them Fidibus and Se Min Kjole (Look At Me) are Danish productions from Fine & Mellow, the company set up in 2002 by the director and her production partner Thomas Gammeltoft who produced her two first feature films Shake It All About (2002) and Oh Happy Day (2004). The third project Lina’s Diary (o.t. Under Ombygning meaning ‘Under Construction’ in Danish) will be a Swedish/Danish co-production between SF and Fine & Mellow.

Hella Joof’s third feature film Fidibus which she just finished shooting, is another comedy with a string of new names from Denmark’s rich pool of talent such as Rudi Køhnke (Nordkraft), Lena Maria Christensen and Jonathan Spang. The film will be released by Nordisk Film on October 13, 2006.

Joof will immediately go to Sweden to direct Lina’s Diary based on the Swedish best-selling novel by Emma Hamberg itself based on the diaries of 15 year-old Lina Kvallsbok. Still a virgin, Lina tries to have fun like her school friends, drinking and going out with boys. But she cannot tolerate alcohol and falls for a younger boy.
Back in Denmark, Joof will make another teenage film about four girls who escape from a youth institution. Se Min Kjole (Look At Me) is set to shoot between winter/spring 2006 for a 2007 local release.
