€2.2M worth of box office advances for 6 films

Véronique Cayla, general director of the French Centre National de la Cinématographie (CNC), has just signed the last allowances of the year, the agreement to provide the box office advances granted by the second group of the commission presided over by Claude Durand. Thus, La Question Humaine ('the human issue') by Nicolas Klotz (read article), a Sophie Dulac production, got €450,000, as did Les yeux bandés ('blindfolded') by Thomas Lilti (Sombrero Productions). Petites peurs partagées, by Alain Resnais (read news), a Soudaine Compagnie production supported by Eurimages and the Ile-de-France region, is receiving €350,000, while Mon Colonel by Laurent Herbiet, a Belgian and French film the main producer of which is KG Productions (in collaboration with Les Films du Fleuve), can count on €400,000 euros (see the details of this project). Finally, 300,000 et 250,000 euros were respectively allocated to Transylvania (read the article) by Tony Gatlif (Princes Films) and to the French minority production Chamelle ('female camel') by Marion Hansel.

Five first features were also selected to receive box office advances at this year's last meeting for the first selection group, the head of which is Michel Saint-Jean (Diaphana), helped by his fellow-producer Grégoire Sorlat (Why Not), the director Laurent Bouhnik and the actor Gilbert Melki. This selection committee promised to grant funds to Melodrama Habibi by Annie Tamba (a Bizibi production), the animation film Max and Co by Samuel Delei and Frédéric Guillaume (Ciné Manufacture), La robe du soir ('the evening dress') by Myriam Aziza (Ex Nihilo), the documentary Nord Paradis by Christophe Lamotte (Cauri Films), and Monsieur Gamage, un documentaire de Christophe Allen ('Mr. Gamage, a documentary by Christophe Allen') by Srinath Christopher Samarasinghe.
