New MD at the Finnish Film Foundation

Irina Krohn, Member of Parliament in Finland has been appointed as the new Managing Director of the Finnish Film Foundation (FFF) starting June 30, 2006 when the current MD Jouni Mykkanen retires.

Krohn who has a degree in theatre research has been an MP since 1995 and holds the 1rst vice chair of the Finnish Green Parliamentary Group. She is member of the Board of Directors of YLE, the Finnish Broadcasting Company and had earlier served as a member of the production board of the FFF.
"Irina Krohn’s views of developing the Finnish film industry, her education and her social skills raised her above the other merited applicants", said the Chairman of the FFF Johannes Lassila.

Supervised by the Finnish Department for Cultural Policy in the Ministry of Education, the FFF has a €7.2m annual budget to support the local film production. The resources of the foundation come mainly from lottery funds through the Ministry of Education.
