On the bill at six American festivals, Swiss films are very much present on the other side of the Atlantic as we begin a new year. Winter Without A Fire by Greg Zglinski (CAB Productions) is among 47 titles in line for the Oscar nomination for best Foreign Film and is showing in the section Award Buzz at the Palm Springs Festival (5 - 16 January). The 11th Festival Berlin & Beyond (14 - 18 January), organised by the Goethe Institute of San Francisco, welcomes Namibia Crossings by Peter Liechti (Reck Filmproduktion) as well Swiss first films Im Nordwind by Bettina Oberli (Catpics Coproductions), KussKuss by Sören Senn (Hochschule für Film und Fernsehen "Konrad Wolf" / Novapool Production) and Drum Bun (gute Reise) by Robert Ralston (Gute Filme), which will be in competition at the 5th Tiburon Festival in California (9 - 17 March).
