2005 figures down by 5%

According to Norwegian trade publication Film&Kino, admissions in Norway decreased by 5% from 11,9 million in 2004 to 11,3 million last year. The market share for Norwegian films remained stable at 14% with 1,4 million tickets sold.

Four mainstream family films backed by US studios took the lead at the local chart in 2005: Charlie And The Chocolate Factory (741,600 admissions), Madagascar (595,392), Harry Potter And The Goblet of Fire (531,508) and Star Wars: Episode 3 (319,681). was the most popular local film of the year seen by 309,314 cinemagoers.

also proved a huge hit in Norway, taking the seventh position at the Top 10 with 264,355 admissions.

Last weekend’s chart was dominated by the studios machines The Chronicles of Narnia:The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe, King Kong and the latest Harry Potter film, followed in fourth place by Swedish filmmaker Mikael Håfstrom’s first US film Derailed starring Uk actor Clive Owen and French actor Vincent Cassel alongside Hollywood star Jennifer Aniston (6073 admissions).
The Swedish children animated film Pettson & Findus 3: Pettson’s Promise telling the new adventures of the favourite characters from Sven Nordqvist books has now sold 70,395 tickets in six weeks, taking the 5th place at the local chart. The film is produced by Scandinavia’s leading animation company Happy Life Animation for Svensk Filmindustri.
The small budget Norwegian film Sinus by Jeremy Robøle, produced by Bastard Film and released by Oro Film is at N°10 with 9,522 admissions in two weeks and the comedy Pitbullterje by Arild Fröhlich produced by Paradox Film and released by Scanbox at N°11 with a total of 183,008 admissions in 10 weeks.
