The film is playing against seven other new films: UK comedy The Truth directed by George Milton, the Australian/UK co-production The Night We Called It a Day by Paul Goldman and four US titles including UK filmmaker Sam Mendes’ Gulf War movie Jarhead released by UIP.

Breakfast On Pluto, the fictional memoirs of a transvestite who travels from Ireland to London at the height of the glam rock era, benefits overall from very positive reviews and the high visibility of rising Irish star Cillian Murphy, nominated for a Golden Globe. The film which will screen at Berlin’s Panorama section next month, had its European premiere in Dublin last Wednesday attended by Neil Jordan, Murphy and fellow actors in the film Brendan Gleeson and Stephen Rea. U2 singer Bono and actor Ralph Fiennes were also among the celebrities who attended the charity premiere. French group Pathé who co-financed the Irish/UK co-production and holds international rights will release the film in France on March 1rst, 2006.

Released on five prints, the small budget UK film The Truth distributed by Guerilla Films is described by influential film critic Geoff Andrew from Time Out as "a low budget but highly satisfying, slyly intelligent UK indie". This dark comedy by the director of Appetite is a murder-mystery for the ‘Me Generation’ starring Elizabeth McGovern and Stephen Lord. Both actors attended a series of Q&A sessions this week to start building the much needed word of mouth on the film. Produced in 2004 by UK producer Julie-Anne Edwards, the film is sold by Moviehouse Entertainment.
Also released today although produced in 2003, The Night We Called It a Day is based on the true story of Frank Sinatra’s 1974 Australian concert tour, with Dennis Hopper playing ‘Frankie old boy’. The film released by Content Film is an Australian/Uk coproduction between Ocean Pictures and Scala Productions.
