Rampling & Co
The eight-member jury of the Berlinale, whose composition we have known since November 30, will be presided over by the English actress Charlotte Rampling and includes two Americans —the multi-media artist Matthew Barney and the producer Fred Roos— as well as the Indian Bollywood producer Yash Chopra and the Korean actress Lee Young-ae. Europe will also be represented by the Dutch director Marleen Gorris (who won the 1996 Best Film in a foreign language Oscar with her film Antonia), the Polish DoP and Oscar-winner Janusz Kaminski (Schindler's List) and the German star Armin Mueller-Stahl, an actor launched notably by Fassbinder who himself won a Silver Bear in 1992.
This year, for the first time, the jury will wait until the final ceremony to announce the names of the winners of the eight prestigious awards: the Golden Bear, the Silver Bears (Best Director, Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Music and Outstanding Artistic Achievement), the Jury Grand Prix, and the Alfred Bauer Prize.
