The new film by Nanni Moretti, on Italian President Silvio Berlusconi, will be distributed on 300 screens in Italy this March 24 by Sacher Distribuzione. The Caiman (Il caimano) is a Sacher Film production, with the collaboration of Bac Films, Stephan Films, France 3 Cinéma, Canal Plus, Cinecinema and Wild Bunch, the latter which is also handling the film’s international sales. The Caimanstars Silvio Orlando and Jasmine Trinca, along with Margherita Buy, Michele Placido and Elio De Capitani.

The eagerly awaited film’s highly secret plot was revealed, at least in part, by one of Italy’s daily papers: A young director, Jasmine Trinca, unsuccessfully looks for an actor to impersonate the leader of the Forza Italia Party; no one will take on the role. Just when all seems lost, Michele Placido appears and seems willing to act the president. At this point, however, everything becomes grotesque as Moretti takes a surreal and visionary turn on his film, in which it appears he also plays a small part.
