Euromed Audiovisual Programme launched

Euromed Audiovisuel is a Euro-Mediterranean Regional programme of the European Commission, aimed at enhancing audiovisual cooperation between Europe and the South Mediterranean countries.
Now underway, the priorities of the programme’s second phase, Euromed Audiovisual II (€15m for 2006-2008) are:
- Development, distribution, promotion and exploitation of audiovisual projects between both shores of the Mediterranean;
- Raising awareness among Mediterranean partners about the need for regulation and protection of audiovisual projects;
- Vocational training support.
In accordance with these priorities, twelve projects targeting professionals from the MEDA countries have been selected.
The European Commission has granted technical assistance, coordinated by IMED (the Italian-based Mediterranean Institute). The assistance team will be in charge of the legal aspects of the programme, providing the MEDA countries with studies on audiovisual policies, copyright and the fight against piracy, as well as on the monitoring and networking of the programme’s beneficiaries.
