FUNDING Germany

MSH picks 15 projects

by

Last Saturday, MSH, the Lübeck-based Schleswig-Holstein regional fund, allocated €1,5m to 15 projects, including Das Herz ist ein dunkler Wald (lit. "The Heart is a Dark Forest"), a tragedy about a woman who discovers her husband has been living a double life, written and directed by the actress/filmmaker Nicolette Krebitz. Produced by Tom Tykwer's X Filme Creative Pool, this film was granted €350,000 in production support.

The regional fund is also supporting, among others, Martin Theo Krieger's Beautiful Bitch (€214,000) and Volker Einrauch's Der Junge (€160,000).

Schleswig-Holstein naturally enhances local talent, such as Christian Theede, currently working on the script of the children's feature Der Graf von St. Germain (lit. "The Count of St Germain"), which will unveil the secret of the elixir of eternal life; and Jan Hinrik Drevs, whose Hundeleben (lit. "A Dog's Life"), about a friendship between a man and a dog, received €200.000 (along with a subsidy already obtained from MSH for script development) to help the production company, Wüste Films.

Christine Berg, head of MSH, is proud to say that Schleswig-Holstein is teeming with "well-known authors, filmmakers and producers" as well as with "new generation" talents.

The next deadline to submit projects is April 15. For further information, see .
