Manslaughter critics favourite

Last Sunday, the Danish Association of Film Critics gave three of its top Bodil awards to Per Fly’s Manslaughter [+see also:

: the third film in the director’s social status trilogy was voted Best Danish Film of the year, Jesper Christensen Best Actor and Charlotte Fich Best Supporting Actress.

These new prizes from one of the oldest film awards in Europe (founded in 1948) add to an already impressive collection, including three Roberts (Danish Oscars) and the prestigious Nordic Film Prize. Produced by Ib Tardini for Zentropa Entertainment and sold by Trust Film Sales, the film was the third most popular domestic film in Denmark last year, with almost 400,000 admissions, and is being released in other territories, such as Benelux (A Film) and Italy (Teodora).

was given the Bodil for Best Foreign Language Film (not from the US), just like at the Roberts, and David Cronenberg’s A History of Violence starring American/Danish star Viggo Mortensen, Best US Film of 2005.
