FSS takes 6 European films to Mar del Plata

Five European sales agents and production companies will participate in the upcoming Mar del Plata International Film Festival (March 9-19) to promote six European productions. Their promotional activities are part of the EFP initiative Film Sales Support (FSS), which continues its 2006 programme in Argentina after a successful debut at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year.

Spanish sales agent Filmax is among the FSS recipients and will represent two titles: horror film Fragile [+see also:

by Jaume Balagueró and Mireira Ros's second feature El triunfo: The Beat of the Streets [+see also:

, which screened in the Panorama section of the recent Berlin Film Festival and will compete in the official section of the Malaga Spanish Film Festival (March 17-25).

Portugal's production and distribution company Rosa Filmes will also attend Mar del Plata to promote Odete [+see also:

. This second feature film by João Pedro Rodrigues premiered at last year’s Cannes Film Festival and has already been sold to France, Greece, the US and Brazil.

Focused on Central and Eastern Southern productions, the UK's Taskovski Films will present Gravehopping by Slovenian director Jan Cvitkovic (read the interview), who won the Best New Director Award at the last San Sebastian Film Festival.

In regards to Germany, the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (DFFB) will endorse Emily Atef's directorial debut Molly's Way, and mdc will promote the animated adventure feature film The District by Hungarian director Aron Gauder.

The FSS will continue to support the promotional expenses of selected sales agents and production companies in the upcoming international festivals in Buenos Aires (April 11-23), Shanghai (June 17-25), Toronto (September 7-16), Rio de Janeiro (21 September – 5 October) and Pusan (October 12-20).
