Westside to produce Vorstadtkrokodile
Producer Christian Becker of Westside Filmproduction GmbH, a subsidiary of Constantin Film AG, has bought the rights for "Vorstadtkrokodile" (lit. "Suburban Crocodile") from German author Max von der Grüns.
Bettina Breitling of Random House, editor of this classical children's story published in 1976, is delighted to see Vorstadtkrokodile adapted for the big screen after 30 years of popularity. "We are convinced that Christian Becker will make it a successful screen adaptation," she said.
The film is set to be a large-scale, German language production and is based on a script by Martin Ritzenhoff (Football Rules Ok, The Last Pimp), who has already worked with Becker. The director's name has not yet been announced. The film's release is planned for late 2007/early 2008.
