A Printemps du cinema record

The 7th edition of the "Le Printemps du Cinéma" (lit. “Springtime Cinema”), organised by the ( National Federation of French Cinema (FNCF)), has beaten all records.

With 2.6m admissions in three days (March 19-21), the event, offering €3.50 tickets in theatres throughout France, outdid the 2.5m spectators achieved in 2003 and 2004. Admission figures – up around 30% on Sunday, 10% Monday and 6% Tuesday with respect to the 2005 figures – particularly benefited domestic films, which occupied six of the top ten spots at last week’s box office.

Heading the weekly billing is Philippe Le Guay’s One Fine Day [+see also:

(Mars Distribution ), which accumulated almost 310,000 admissions on 308 screens, followed in second place by Pierre-François Martin-Laval’s Try Me [+see also:

found itself in 9th place last week and has attracted 365,240 cinema-goers in two weeks (TFM Distribution ), within the overall context of 2006’s fine start (up around 20% compared to the first months of 2005).
