Jordi Vidal: shooting is on the road

On April 19, director-scriptwriter Jordi Vidal began principal photography of his first feature film, Road Spain [+see also:

, in Cáceres. It was the first day of an eight-week shoot, which will take the cast and crew of the film on a trip through the Basque Country, La Mancha, Costa Brava and Barcelona.

Starring Catalan actors Marc Rodríguez and Ingrid Rubio, the film – as its title suggests – is a road movie, following the journeys of Marc, a young man who decides to take a break from his life and buys an old van. Txema Blasco, Saturnino García, Carlos Álvarez-Noboa, Maria Ribeira and Maiken Beitia complete the cast, playing a series of weird characters Marc will meet on the road.

With a €1,200,000 budget, Road Spain is the sixth feature film to be produced by Iris Star, after Antoni Verdaguer's Raval, currently in post-production. The Barcelona-based company is co-producing Road Spain with Cadena Impact, which will later handle the video distribution of the film. Both companies will share the film’s production and promotional resources in equal parts.
