President Wong Kar Wai and his jury

Eight members will preside alongside president Wong Kar Wai (see news) in the official competition jury at the 59th Cannes Film Festival (May 17-28).

Disclosed this afternoon, the jury includes three actresses – Italy’s Monica Bellucci, Britain’s Helena Bonham-Carter and China’s Zhang Ziyi, as well as US and UK actor Samuel Jackson and Tim Roth. Also on the panel are three directors: France’s Patrice Leconte, Palestinian filmmaker Elia Suleiman and Argentina’s Lucrecia Martel.

Belgian filmmaking duo Luc and Jean-Pierre Dardenne, winners of the Golden Palm in 2005, will preside over this year’s Caméra d'or jury, while the Un Certain regard selection will be headed by US actor and director Monte Hellman. Lastly, Russian filmmaker Andrei Konchalovsky will preside over the Cinéfondation and shorts juries.
