Filmpool Nord readies new Film City
by Annika Pham
Filmpool Nord, the second most important regional production centre in Sweden after Film I Väst, is on April 24 inaugurating its new ‘filmbyn’ or ‘Film City’, where five production companies – Sonet Film, M2, Bob Film North, Davaj Film and Hob Company – are establishing offices along with post-production outfit Nordic Sound.
Two feature films shot in the region and co-produced by Filmpool Nord are currently on Swedish screens: Anders Banke’s Frost Bite [+see also:

A third feature film co-produced by Filmpool Nord, Säg att du älskar mig (Tell Me You Love Me) by Daniel Fridell (Beneath The Surface) – which was filmed in Luleå between July-September 2005 and produced by Noble Entertainment – will open in Sweden next autumn.
A fourth Filmpool Nord co-production is finishing shooting in Norrbotten: Agneta Fagerström Olsson’s Black Island Sisters, the story of three working class women who during the day work in an iron factory in Luleå and at night play in a local band. The film, which is being produced by Giraff Film , just received a €534,356 grant from the Swedish Film Institute.
