Cinema meets the book in Turin

by

From May 4-6, for the third consecutive year, the International Book Fair of Turin will host the Book Film Bridge (BFB), the rights market that aims to create a bridge in the media sector (between cinema, television and publishing).

Novels to bring to the big screen, documentaries and cartoons to unite with newspapers, co-productions between publishing companies and European broadcasters: the BFB looks at all the various possibilities and opportunities, heartened by the fact that in 2005 business dealings related to "collateral products", which include the pairing of audiovisual products with the press (DVD-magazine), brought in approximately 900m euros.

Over 100 TV and film production companies and over 60 book and newspaper publishing companies have already signed up for this third edition of the market. There are furthermore over 200 registered projects, including adaptations, product "pairing", co-productions, and licensing of fiction, non-fiction, documentaries, comic strips and cartoons.

Publishers will be able to meet Italian production companies interested in literary adaptation projects at the BFB. There will also be a good number of European production companies interested in the novelties of the Italian cultural industry for the joint development of transnational projects.
