Sorrentino not "taking advantage" of Cannes

L'amico di famiglia (lit. "The Family Friend") by Paolo Sorrentino, in competition at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival, will not be released in Italy before September.

"Medusa Film is very disappointed to not be able to distribute the film to coincide with the festival", said Paolo Pozzi, the distribution director of the company, which also produced the film with Fandango, "but we found out at the last minute the film would be in competition. The director is preparing a print for the competition and doesn't think that it will be ready for the film's theatrical launch as well".
