CANNES 2006 Germany

Never without Wenders

by

Thanks to some last minute additions to the Official Selection at the Cannes Film Festival, German cinema is not confined to the parallel sections (see news).

A special screening will be organised in the Buñuel Theatre to present Wim Wenders’ short Room 666, made in Cannes in 1982, which will be followed by The House is Burning, the debut feature by Holger Ernst. The film, which tells the story of a day in the life of five very different young people in crisis and forced to make a decision before dawn, is produced by Wenders’ production outfit Reverse Angle, which the director set up in 2002 with Peter Schwartzkopff. Their first film together, Don't Come Knocking [+see also:

Meanwhile, the Directors’ Fortnight has announced that the debut feature from Denmark’s Anders Morgenthaler, Princess, will open the independent section on May 18. This combination of filmed and animated images made in the Zentropa studios was co-produced by German company Shotgun Pictures.
